Okay my sweet niece ( yes you Kelly M) replied to yesterdays blog on being un-organized and threw in her two cents hahaha.
She said if I didn’t keep 15 million cans of coffee and 2000 hot dogs etc I would have more room for things. hahah very funny Kelly,
To you that have no clue, okay I admit I do stock up on groceries and panic if I get down low,but it stems from growing up poor I think. My sisters are the same way, so it’s has to be that.
The coffee, yeah Kelly M exagerates but I do try to have ohhhhhhh at least between 8 to 10 cans of coffee ahead. Hey if it’s on sale, I stock up, I so don’t want to run out of coffee. One never knows when the price of coffee will go up, hey I am old,
I have seen prices rise and fall alot!!
Hot dogs, yeah this is a biggie to Kelly M, hahaha but not me. When I shop at the commissary on Ft Lewis and I see a sale like 90 Oscar Mayer all beef hot dogs for $3.00 you bet I am going to buy 3 or 4 boxes of them and put them in the freezer. Hey my grandkids here and my grandkids in Idaho love hot dogs on the grill, or any way really, so I want to make sure I always have them.
So yeah I admit I have hot dogs out the “yea yea” in the freezer. So one day when Kelly M was here and we were in the grocery store, mmm she gave me the “look”. Ever see her “look” ewwwwwwwwww scary!!!
Okay we are by the cold meat section and wow I see this new item put out by Oscar Mayer. It’s hot dogs WITH THE BUN, wow that’s so neat, and you just pop them in the micro-wave. Special price too cause they are new, so see “sale”. Having my grandchildren in mind you bet I grabbed for those babies, only to hear a “you are not serious” then turn and see the “look”. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I dropped those buggers like they were steaming hot!!!! Kelly just laughed at me and told me I all ready had a million hot dogs in the freezer. “But,” I said to her, “not with the buns.” yeah totally wrong thing to say, she just started in, then started laughing. And dang you Kelly, I still haven’t bought them. I go to pick up the box, and yep you pop into my head with the “look” and the “you are not serious” voice. Mmmm you have scared me for life hahah, now poor lil Miranda will never be able to try one!!!! Do you feel guilty?? No, I didn’t think so.
I try to keep the cupboards and freezers full at all times. You just never know if you will have company, if you can’t get to the store etc so be prepared. Okay maybe a tad too much. We have two refrigerators, one up right freezer, one chest freezer , one side by side freezer, ( they don’t hold much) and the freezer on the top of my other refrigerator. We buy veggies by the case when they are on sale, and all our meat when it’s on sale, we buy alot.
Toilet paper, well my sister has me beat there, she has oodles, me maybe six of the 24 pk quilted northern, but hey if it goes on sale, I am there.
When the twins were younger I would buy 6 gals of milk at a time and a variety of cereal, but now that’s cut down. The kids don’t drink that much milk, so I don’t keep all that much ahead.
Growing up we were poor and never really had that much. Things like that stick with you, you know memories of the bad times seem to stand out more than the good ones. Also 20 yrs in the military was no picnic so oh about ten years ago we vowed to never be low on groceries again. To us that was the most important thing to purchase and I guess now we continue with that feeling. I never ever want anyone coming here and not having anything to offer them. Grocery stores I love, and sales, oh yeah you can bet I shop til I drop for them.
Do I dare put this out there??? Okay I will; Am I nuts??? NO, I don’t think so, just thinking ahead. When my daughter and family come over for a visit, hey Mikayla needs her corn dogs, ( I have 3 boxes right now) and Miranda, well that girl would live on those dang popcicles that you buy in the box of like 400!!! I have those stashed in every freezer for her and a box to spare. Got to keep the little ones happy and hey isn’t it true, at Grandma’s house you always get what you want???!!!! My job is to keep my family “fat and happy” how’s that? To me it’s a good goal and I love the thought that we are able to do that.
Shhhhhhhhhh don’t tell Kelly M, but yeah I did buy two more boxes of hot dogs too, hey summer is coming up, can’t run out!!!!

OMG..way too funny!! I still am in shock of you buying MORE friggin hotdogs! yeah the hotdog with the buns…I certainly did give you the “look”..because seriously…there is absolutely NO need for them! haha especially when you have 2000 of just regular hotdogs in the freezer..use friggin bread if you don’t have a roll. It’s all good! And do I feel guilty for depriving little Miranda of these…NOPE..because honestly ..she doesn’t even know they exist! Yeah at least two of my aunts are NUTS! One stashes food and the other one paper products…seriously..if I lived closer to either of you..I would NEVER have to go shopping…I would jut stop over for a visit

I use to tease my Gram….she has TONS and TONS of paper products; cases and cases of tea, soup….you name it, Gram has a stockpile of it. I don’t tease her AS bad now as I’ve sorta started being the same way. Not as much in the last year or so, but once upon a time, I had a ’stockpile closet’ and it was FULL of toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, razors….anything I used that was on sale, I’d buy. Even if I didn’t need it
Stock up….it’s fun

I guess I never got bitten by the shopping bug. So I don’t stockpile products. Maybe I should and save some money. Saving’s always good. Then you have more to spend on the next sale. But doesn’t it become a vicious cycle?
